The Power of Creating Space

Have you ever experienced those moments in life when the walls feel like they are metaphorically closing in on you? The moments where several random interactions collide... Where there is no space to breathe, where you cannot see clearly, let alone the capacity to muster up the stamina or enthusiasm to ‘keep steering the ship’ in the right direction?

So often in these moments, we are reminded of the importance of one of the most significant things we take for granted and one of the most significant things we can create for ourselves in our life.

Space.

The etheric space within ourselves... The physical space that is our environment, and the space that is related to the ‘time’ that we give to people, projects, and things.

Some of the most inspiring conversations I have had recently highlighted not only the business need for space but also the personal need of many business owners to create space from their business.

  • Space to develop,

  • Space to think,

  • Space to work on the business not just in it.

  • Space to foster the proactive not the potential cluttered mayhem of always being reactive.

  • Space for life, love and connection.

So, I ask you the question.... How much space have you created for yourself in your life and business? And if your answer is ‘not much...’ take the next step and be honest with yourself and have the courage to ask – How is this lack of space impacting you, your health, your team, your business and most importantly, your loved ones around you?

Have you considered what your life could look like if you created more space? More space for you, more space for your family? More space within and from your business so that you can strategically map the best course.

In my experience, one of the key factors of great leadership (in a home and business) is the leader’s ability to create an environment where space becomes paramount. Where the notion of taking space to think, grow, develop and be proactive is not only supported, but also encouraged and is measured.

How do you measure space in your life? In a business context? In a leadership context?

And how do you plan to create more of it?
